My laptop will not charge my battery?

This section will try to answer the most often asked questions I get.

My laptop will not charge my battery?

This question gets asked quite often. In an older system the battery may be weak, and the cells have died which would require a new battery.

If your system has a loose jack, this would also cause your battery to power poorly. Simply unplug your battery, and try powering it on on straight DC power. If your power cable does not require handling to power on, your battery is bad or an internal fuse.

If you have a bad 2.5mm jack, I sell wiring harnesses to convert your 2.5mm or 1.65mm jack to a wired 2.5mm that mounts to the case lowering the risk of any future DC jack breaks.

Some systems also have internal ceramic fuses that are 10A, 12A, and 15A that may blow. These fuses are soldered directly to the motherboard.

What if my need is not listed?

As an electronics technician, laptops and desktops are not the only items I work on. If you have a specific need that is not isted above, please feel free to email me at

A Toolbar typically has a search function and provides search results for paid advertisers. It often has buttons that are links to advertisers’ web pages. An advertising toolbar may track browsing and search queries in order to display contextually relevant search results and ads. Clarence,

This email will serve as an update on the status and repair of your systems sent in.

Currently I have listed the following machines sent in for repair by you:

HP DV6000 with the serialization of CNF7142WCG
HP DV9000 with the serialization of CNF6510YRQ
Toshiba U405 with the serialization of 78133087W
IBM T-30 with the serialization of J1S4H3681GE

As agreeded your motherboards are billed at $100.00 per system.

Now, with the HP DV6000 with the serialization CNF7142WCG has been repaired and is ready for return. The system required a reflow on both the Nvidia GeForce GO6150 (NF-G6150-N-A2) and the Nvidia NF-430-N-A3 chipset.

The HP DV9000 with the serialization CNF6510YRQ has been repaired and is ready for return. The system required a reflow on the Nvidia GeForce NF-SPP-100-N-A2, the Nvidia GeForce GF-GO7600-N-A2, and the Nvidia NF-430-N-A3 chipset.

The Toshiba U405 with the serialization 78133087W requires a QFP package to have the system repaired. The system requires a Winbond WPCE775 chipset replaced. This chipset is labeled Winbond WPCE775LA00G 48178011-AA2 8186BFA. This chipset is running hot and has developed a hot spot with an internal trace failure. With the internal trace failure, the system is dropping the voltage and caused the motherboard to resonate.

The IBM T-30 with the serialization J1S4H3681GE requires a new LCD assembly. Due to the age of the system I do not feel comfortable changing just the inverter. The entire assembly will need to be replaced. The video chip was reflowed as a precaution, but the video still displayed the same symptoms.

Please keep in mind you need to update the video drivers from Nvidia.com and the BIOS from HP if one is to be applied. Please advise your end user to purchase a cooling pad to help insure the removal of heat from the system.
