(Unspecified User),

This email will serve as an update on the status and repair of your system sent in.

Currently I have listed the following machine sent in for repair by you:

Dell Latitude D630 with the serialization of Unknown

As agreed your motherboard is billed at $75.00.

Now, with the Dell Latitude D630 with the serialization Unknown has been repaired and is ready for return. The system required a reflow on the Nvidia GeForce G86-620-A2, Intel SLA5H, and Intel SLA5Q chipsets.

As requested, we reversed the “thermoelectric” fan modification performed by Precision Division. We rewired your fan, tested the unit, and checked for any obvious system faults finding none after our repair.

Please keep in mind you need to reapply thermal compound such as Artic Silver 5. You also need to update the video drivers from Nvidia.com and the BIOS from Dell if one is to be applied. If not, please update your driver from Nvidia.com with your correct operating system listed. Please advise your end user to purchase a cooling pad to help insure the removal of heat from the system if you are performing this as a third party repair.

If you need more help in explaining these areas to your end user, please visit http://applelogicboardrepairservice.com/tips.html

Pictures of the repair can be viewed at http://applelogicboardrepairservice.com/img under Unspecified User so we may keep your identity confidential due to the nature of your repair.

IR based laptop BGA reflow of a Dell 1501 ATI motherboard to fix a scrambled video issue caused by bad solder.

August 21, 2011 by DoubleClickItToFixIt.com Leave a Comment

This laptop came in from a local drop off to our shop and it had an odd issue. We usually do not see issues like we saw with this system, but slowly but surely we fixed this system up by reflowing the chipsets. Unlike the HP systems with a Nvidia issue, this Dell Inspirion 1501 had an ATI series of chipsets but they still required a reflow service.

Reflow and reball of PS3, Xbox 360, and laptop system boards after being fluxed and heat gun/hot air gun attempted.

July 28, 2011 by DoubleClickItToFixIt.com 1 Comment

Here is a new video that I produced displaying a few systems, mainly PS3 and Xbox 360, that were worked on previously by a few home users. The system boards were fluxed, hot air heated, heatsink damaged, and more issues. This video displays greatly why hot air videos on Youtube and tutorials are damaging to a system board. Now, I receive a number of emails saying “But what if I use aluminum foil wrapped around my board then ….” My answer to them is always check out this video because I was told some of these boards were wrapped in foil and heated with a shrink wrap hot air gun from Lowes.

Paul,

This email will serve as an update on the status and repair of your systems sent in.

Currently I have listed the following machines sent in for repair by you:

HP DV9000 with the serialization of CNF6490HZ8

As agreed your system is billed at $125.00 for the reflow plus the cost of the screen.

Now, with the HP DV9000 with the serialization of CNF6490HZ8 has been reflowed and is ready for return. The motherboard is listed as HP Spare 447983-001. The system reflowed on both the Nvidia GeForce GO8600 (NF-G08600-N-A2), Intel SLA5D, and the Intel SLA5Q chipsets.

Your system was shipped without a power adapter.

Your system also required a LCD and inverter replacement as part of the repair service. These two units were purchased and replaced.

You also need to update the video drivers from Nvidia.com and the BIOS from HP if one is to be applied. Please advise your end user to purchase a cooling pad to help insure the removal of heat from the system.

How dirty is that PS3 in the window? Yes, the one with the bad chipsets.

New video that I produced displaying what a dirty system, mainly any system, will do to a user’s electronics. We had a PS3 delivered to us with a Blu-Ray player issue and this system would not play Blu-Ray discs or DVDs. After our reflow, the system worked great.
